The Minnesota Wild topped the Los Angeles Kings 2-1 in a shootout win at Staples Center Tuesday night. Goaltender Darcy Kuemper made 39 saves in the win and saved all four of the Kings’ shootout chances.

The game was scoreless until the third period when the Kings took a 1-0 lead on Jarret Stoll’s sixth goal of the season at 0:50. Assists were credited to Jeff Carter and Dwight King.

Nino Niederreiter scored the tying goal for the Wild at 3:25 with assists given to Jason Pominville and Mikael Granlund.

After neither team scored in overtime, Minnesota’s Niederreiter scored on the Wild’s fourth shootout attempt to earn the win.

The Wild are now 23-17-5 and will take on Phoenix Thursday night in Glendale, Arizona.
