The Minnesota Wild begin their playoff run tonight in Denver against the Colorado Avalanche (8 PM, AM 1390).

The Avalanche had great success against the Wild this season, winning the regular season series 4-0-1.

The Wild finished the regular season with a 43-27-12 record and earned the top wild card spot in the Western Conference.

Colorado won the West with a 55-22-8 record, including identical 26-11-4 marks at home and on the road.

The Wild will face a tough test in goaltender Semyon Varlamov, who won a franchise-record 41 games this season for the Avs.  His Minnesota counterpart Ilya Bryzgalov finished the season 7-1-3 but has been less than stellar in the postseason (8-10, 54 goals allowed).

The Twins will play a doubleheader today with game one scheduled for 12:10 and game two scheduled for 7:10. RA Dickey vs Gibson in game one, McGowan vs Pelfrey in game two.
