The Gopher men's basketball team rallied at the end of regulation and beat Illinois 77-72 in overtime Saturday night. Minnesota got a conventional 3-point play from Austin Hollins with 6 seconds left and Minnesota took control of the game in overtime. Hollins and Chip Armelin each had 14 points to lead the Gophers and Andre Hollins added 12 points for Minnesota.
The St. Cloud State men's basketball team won 74-52 at Augustana Friday night but the SCSU women lost 80-78 to the Vikings in Sioux Falls. Shaun Jensen led the SCSU men with 13 points and Connor Niehaus added 10 points for the Huskies. The SCSU men improve to 17-2 overall and 13-2 in the NSIC.
The 3rd ranked Gopher men's hockey team defeated St. Cloud State 3-2 Saturday night to complete a sweep of SCSU. Saturday night's win over SCSU for Minnesota came in St. Cloud. Sam Warning scored the game-winning goal for the Gophers to break a 2-all tie in the 3rd period. Ben Hanowski tied the game at 2 in the 2nd period and Hanowski scored the first SCSU goal in the 1st period.
The 13th ranked St. Cloud State men's basketball won 54-51 at Wayne State and the SCSU women's basketball team lost 63-41 at Wayne State. Tim Bergstrasser, Theo Rothstein, and Brett Putz each scored 11 points to lead the Huskies. SCSU improves to 16-2 overall and 12-2 in the NSIC.
