Wild And Avs Monday, Twins and Rays Tuesday
The Minnesota Wild look to turn the tide in their playoff series with the Colorado Avalanche when they host game three at Xcel Energy Center (1390 AM/ 6 PM). Minnesota let a 4-2, third period lead slip away in game one’s 5-4 overtime loss then fell 4-2 in game two on Saturday. Darcy Kuemper is expected to get the start in net for the Wild in game three.
The .500 Twins are in Tampa to take on the Rays, and Tuesday’s series-opener at Tropicana Field (6:00, WJON) features a juicy pitching matchup. Kyle Gibson (3-0, 0.93) was moved ahead of Mike Pelfrey in the rotation and will take the ball for the Twins, while the Rays send lefty ace David Price (2-1, 4.39) to the hill. Despite his winning record Gibson has struggled a bit with control so far this season, allowing nine walks against ten strikeouts.
