Vikings Disappointing in Season Opener
The Vikings couldn’t capitalize off a ton of miscues from the Lions this afternoon, losing 34-24 at Ford Field in their season opener.
The Vikings let a 14-6 lead get away in the second half, with poor performances from the defense and Christian Ponder.
Ponder was disappointing, going 18/28 with one touchdown and three interceptions. The Vikings defense got shredded, allowing the Lions to post 469 yards.
Reggie Bush had an impressive start for the Lions, finishing with 191 yards of offense and turning a short pass into a 77-yard touchdown.
Adrian Peterson ran for a 78 yard touchdown on his first carry but had a quiet game otherwise, gaining just 13 yards off his next 13 carries. Peterson finished with 93 yards on the ground.
Jerome Simpson was a surprising bright spot for the Vikings today, catching seven passes for a total of 140 yards, with a 47 yard reception in the 3rd quarter.
The Vikings will travel to Chicago next week, looking for their first win at Soldier Field since 2007.
