The Minneapolis Star Tribune is reporting that Viking defensive end Jared Allen is the NFC Defensive Player of the Year.  The NFL season ending awards were announced Tuesday.  Allen set a franchise record in 2011 with 22 sacks and was just 1/2 sack away from Michael Strahan's single season record for sacks.  Allen ranks 20th all time in sacks with 105.

Aaron Rodgers was named offensive player of the year in the NFC and Tom Brady was named AFC offensive player of year.
