Twins Dumped By Detroit In Marathon Sunday

The Tigers beat the Twins 13-4 Sunday afternoon at Target Field. The game was the longest nine-inning contest in Twins history at four hours and ten minutes.

Kyle Gibson was knocked around in his start for Minnesota, failing to get out of the fifth inning after allowing five runs on eight hits and four walks. Gibson took the loss and is now 11-10 on the season.

Danny Santana had a pair of hits for the Twins in defeat while also knocking in a pair of runs, while Kennys Vargas increased his batting average to .337 with three hits in five at-bats.

Minnesota is now 58-72 on the season and are 14.5 games out of first place. At this point last season the Twins were 57-72. After an off day Monday, the Twins head to Kansas City for a series beginning Tuesday night at Kauffman Stadium.
