Three Gopher men's basketball players have been suspended for the season. The 3 are guards Nate Mason, Dupree McBrayer and Kevin Dorsey. The 3 were suspended for the Illinois game Sunday night for a violation of a team rule.
The Timberwolves downed Boston 124-122 Monday night at Target Center. Minnesota was out-scored 38-31 in the 4th quarter to make the game close. The Wolves were led in scoring by Karl Anthony Towns with 28 points and 13 rebounds,
After two periods the score was Saint Cloud Tech 3 and the Sartell Sabres 4. It was an exciting two periods so far with both teams scoring rapidly and Sartell's Mathew Michaud had a at trick with the third goal coming half way through the second period.
The Minnesota WIld lost 4-3 at home against Washington last night. Alex Ovechkin scored 3 goals in the 2nd period for Washington. Minnesota got goals from Charlie Coyle, Ryan Suter and Mikhael Granlund. Suter's goal was on a power play in the 3rd period.
At halftime the score was 30-36, with the score favoring the Tech Tigers. Tech during the first half was playing there style of basketball to take the lead into the half, while Brainerd even though still in it they were trying to get a string of shots to fall. Their game plan for the second half was to get back into the game while Tech's game plan was to keep the lead and to continue to play their style of basketball.
After two periods the score was 0-6 in favor of the Sartell Sabres. When the third period started Sauk Rapids-Rice knew what their game plan was and that was to climb that steep mountain and get back into the game. Sartell's game plan for the third period was to continue to dominate the game.
The St. Cloud Rox signed 4 athletes from the Atlantic Coast Conference to join the 2016 roster. The 4 are 6'1 catcher Brendan Illies from the University of North Carolina, right handed pitchers Jim and Ed Voyles from Florida State and 5'10 left handed pitcher Dan Metzdorf from Boston College.
The St. John's basketball team improved to 14-4 after a 91-82 win at home over Hamline Wednesday night. The Johnnies were led by Mitchell Kuck with 24 points and Tyler Weiss added 17 points and 9 rebounds.
