It was announced Monday that the Minnesota Wild will play the St. Louis Blues in the Winter Classic outdoors at Target Field on January 1st of 2022. Star Tribune Sports Columnist Jim Souhan joined me on WJON today. He says Minnesotans will embrace the event and it looks cool.

The United States Olympic gymnastics trials took place over the weekend in St. Louis. Three Minnesotans have been chosen to represent the United States on the team. The three are Shane Wiskus from Spring Lake Park and the University of Minnesota on the men's team and both Suni Lee from St. Paul and Grace McCallum from Isanti on the women's team.

The Twins lost 4-1 at home to the Cleveland Indians Thursday night in the first game of the 4-game series. Star Tribune Sports Columnist Jim Souhan joined me on WJON today. Former Twin Eddie Rosario broke the 1-all tie with a 2-run single in the 8th inning. Jim says despite the big hit from Rosario last night he's had a bad season and the Twins' decision to let him go was the right one.

The United States Olympic gymnastic trials are taking place today-Sunday. Sunisa Lee of St. Paul represents the best Minnesota hope of making the U.S. team. Grace McCallum of Isanti and Shane Wiskus of Spring Lake Park and the University of Minnesota also have chances of making the United States team.

The Twins won a marathon game 7-5 in 12 innings over the Cincinnati Reds Monday night into Tuesday morning. The game lasted 5 hours and 14 minutes. Major League Baseball has informed teams they will be cracking down on pitchers using sticky illegal substances to gain an unfair advantage over hitters and will suspend players who violate this.
