September 11, 2012 The Twins won their 3rd straight game against Cleveland 7-2 Monday night to win the series 3 games to 1. Sam Deduno threw 7 innings with 3 hits, 3 walks and 2 earned runs allowed to get the win and improve to 6-3. Pedro Florimon went 2-4 with with a double and a triple, 2 runs scored and 1 RBI, Joe Mauer was 2-4 with 1 RBI and Ryan Doumit hit a solo homerun for the Twins.
September 10, 2012 The Twins got a walk-off solo homerun from Justin Morneau in the 9th inning to lift the Twins to a 8-7 win over Cleveland at Target Field Sunday. Morneau was 2-4 with 2 homeruns and 3 RBIs, Joe Mauer was 3-5 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI and Ben Revere was 2-5 with 1 RBI. Brian Duensing allowed just 1 hit in 1 1/3 innings to get the win. Esmerling Vazquez allowed 4 earned runs in 3 innings and didn't figure in the final decision for Minnesota.
September 9, 2012 The Twins retired former Manager Tom Kelly's #10 in a pregame ceremony before a 3-0 win over the Cleveland Indians. Kelly managed the Twins to two World Series titles in 1987 and 1991. He managed the team for 16 years. Cole DeVries led the Twins attack throwing 6 shutout innings with 4 hits allowed and 2 strikeouts. He gets the win and improves to 5-5. Joe Mauer, Josh Willingham and Justin Morneau each drove in 1 run and Ben Revere had 2 hits, 2 runs scored and 2 stolen bases.
September 6, 2012 The Twins lost 6-2 in Chicago Wednesday to close a 3-game series against the White Sox. Alex Rios hit a pair of homeruns and drove in all 6 runs for the White Sox. Ryan Doumit and Chris Parmelee each had 2 hits and both Matt Carson and Eduardo Escobar had 1 hit and 1 RBI. P.J. Walters allowed 6 earned runs in 5 innings to take the loss and drop to 2-3. Jake Peavy allowed 1 earned run in 6 innings to get the win.
September 5, 2012 The Twins outscored the White Sox 18-9 in Chicago Tuesday night. Minnesota scored 7 runs in the 2nd inning and added 10 runs in the 5th inning. Chris Parmelee hit a 3-run homerun and 4 RBIs, Ryan Doumit was 3-6 with a homerun and 3 RBIs, and Eduardo Escobar had 2 hits, 2 runs scored and 3 RBIs for the Twins. Escobar made his Twins debut after being chosen as a September call-up. The Twins acquire Escobar in the Liriano trade in July.
September 4, 2012 The Twins lost 4-2 in Chicago to the White Sox Monday night. Gordon Beckham went 2-4 with a 2-run homerun and 3 RBIs to lead the White Sox. Jamey Carroll was 2-3 with a solo homerun, his first as a Twin. The 38-year old Carroll now has 13 homeruns in his career. Justin Morneau had a RBI single for the Twins. Chris Parmelee went 2-4 for Minnesota. Sam Deduno threw 6 innings with 2 earned runs allowed to take the loss and drop to 5-3.
September 3, 2012 Kansas City beat the Twins 6-4 in K.C. Sunday to salvage the final game of the 3-game series. Esmerling Vazquez made his first major league start and allowed 7 hits and 5 earned runs in 5 2/3 innings to take the loss and drop to 0-1. Chris Parmelee was 2-4 with a solo homerun, Joe Mauer was 3-4 and Alexi Casilla went 2-4 with 2 RBIs for the Twins.
September 2, 2012 The Twins swept a doubleheader in Kansas City Saturday after having their game rained out on Friday night. Minnesota won game 1 3-1 before winning game 2 8-7. In game one Cole DeVries threw 6 2/3 innings with 7 hits and 1 earned run allowed to get the win and improve to 4-5. Justin Morneau was 1-2 with 2 RBIs, Jamey Carroll had 3 hits and Chris Parmelee chipped in 2 hits.
August 31, 2012 The Twins lost 5-4 at home against Seattle Thursday in the final game of a 4-game series. Josh Willingham's dropped ball in the 6th inning led to 4 Seattle runs and may have cost the Twins the game. Willingham did hit a 2-run homerun later in the game. Alexi Casilla was 2-3 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI and Brian Duensing threw 5 1/3 innings with 4 hits and 3 earned runs allowed to take the loss and drop to 3-10.
