Yankees, Granderson Beat Twins 7-6
The Twins lost 7-6 at New York to the Yankees Thursday night. Curtis Granderson hit 3 homeruns for the Yankees. 2 of Granderson's homeruns came against Twins starter Anthony Swarzak. Swarzak allowed 8 hits and 6 earned runs in 2 2/3 innings to take the loss and drop to 0-3. Ryan Doumit went 2-4 with a 2-run homerun and 4 RBIs and Danny Valencia went 2-4 with 2 RBIs for the Twins.
Glen Perkins returned to the mound Thursday night and threw a scoreless 8th inning. He had missed time with a sore forearm. The Twins were trying to win a series in New York for the first time since 2001. Minnesota settled for a split in the 4-game series. The Twins begin a 3-game series in St. Petersburg, Florida against the Tampa Bay Rays at 6:10 tonight, pregame on WJON at 5:40. Righthander Liam Hendriks (0-0) gets the start on the mound for the Twins and lefthander Matt Moore (0-1) toes the rubber for the Rays.
