It’s been almost 7 months since the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that Wrestling, a sport that can be dated back to some of the original Olympic Games, be removed from the schedule.  However, yesterday morning wresting did what many thought they initially couldn’t, and that was winning back the spot that was taken from them in February.  Wrestling took 49 of the possible 95 votes, insuring that they would once again be a core sport in the Olympics. To help get the job done wrestling did execute some major rule changes including changing matches to consist of two- three minute sessions as opposed to the previous three- two minute periods, along with going to cumulative scoring which replaces the previous two-out-of-three system. It is hoped that the changes will make the sport easier for spectators to follow.

The wrestling community worked very hard over the past six months and let it be known that they were not going down without a fight. All that hard work has paid off and I want to personally thank everyone who supported the cause. Wrestling is back where it belongs!
