The Winona State men's basketball team is no longer in first place in the NSIC standings after the NSIC and NCAA penalized the program for using an ineligible player during 19 games this season.  Guard, Grant Johnson was ruled ineligible for the rest of the season.  He transferred to Winona State from UW-Parkside in the fall of 2011 but wasn't granted a release from Parkside.

SCSU is now in first place in the NSIC with a 14-5 record in the conference and 18-5 overall mark.  Winona State was 17-1 in the NSIC and 22-2 overall.  13 of their NSIC games were nullified because of this violation.
