The Minnesota Wild topped the Florida Panthers 2-1 at Xcel Energy Center Thursday night. The Wild are now 27-20-7 on the season and trail Calgary and Vancouver, who are tied, for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

The Wild was 5-5 on the penalty kill, including a kill with just over one minute left in regulation, which turned into a six-on-four after Florida pulled its goalie. Minnesota only had two chances on the power play but scored on one of them.

Jason Pominville and Zach Parise scored goals for the Wild, with Parise’s goal coming on the power play. Former Gopher Nick Bjugstad scored the lone goal for the Panthers.

Devan Dubnyk made 26 saves to earn the win for Minnesota. The Wild host Carolina at the X on Saturday.
