The Minnesota Wild were overwhelmed by the Penguins in a 5-2 loss Thursday night in Pittsburgh. The Wild have not won a road game in regulation since November 20th.

Former Minnesota forward Pascal Dupuis started the scoring early for the Penguins with a goal at :49 of the first period. Dupuis' seventh of the season was the only goal for either side.

The wheels fell off for the Wild in the second period, with the Penguins scoring three unanswered goals before Minnesota got on the scoreboard. Jason Pominville scored his 16th of the season at 11:20 of the second to cut the Wild's deficit to 4-1.

Dany Heatley's seventh goal of the season at 3:03 of the third period cut the Penguins lead to 4-2, and the Wild appeared to have some momentum after gaining a 5-on-3 power play.

However, Jonas Brodin pulled down Olli Maatta on a breakaway, and Maatta was awarded a penalty shot which he converted on to make the score 5-2.

The Penguins outshot Minnesota 36-26 in the game.
