Vikings Win Final Preseason Game

The Vikings closed the preseason Thursday night with a 28-0 win over the Houston Texans at Mall of America Field.  Rookie Christian Ponder got the start at quarterback and was 10-16 passing for 83 yards and a touchdown.  He also ran for 61 yards on 8 attempts.  Joe Webb played the 2nd half and was 5-6 passing for 43 yards with 12 yards rushing.  Caleb King ran for 62 yards and 2 touchdowns for Minnesota.

The Vikings finish the preseason with a 2-2 record and will open the regular season at San Diego on Sunday September 11 at 3:15pm, pregame on WJON at 2:00.  Many of the starters including Donavan McNabb, Adrian Peterson, Jared Allen and Chad Greenway did not play Thursday night.
