Vikings Win Exciting Contest With Washington

The Vikings beat Washington 34-27 at the Metrodome Thursday night. The Vikings defense found themselves in a familiar situation, with time winding down and a slim lead on the scoreboard, but this time they kept Washington out of the end zone.

Christian Ponder played well for a second straight game at quarterback for Minnesota, going 17/21 with two touchdowns and one interception. However, Ponder left the game in the third quarter with an apparent shoulder dislocation. Matt Cassel relieved Ponder and went 4/6 for 47 yards and helped the Vikings down the field on a key fourth quarter drive that led to a field goal.

Adrian Peterson carried the ball 20 times for 75 yards and two touchdown, and tight end John Carlson pulled in seven passes for 91 yards and a touchdown.  Cordarrell Patterson also pulled in a touchdown pass in the game.

The Vikings are at Seattle on November 17th.
