Viking running back Adrian Peterson returned to practice for the Vikings and for the first time this season in full pads.  Peterson took only a few hand-offs but the defense was instructed not to hit him.  Peterson was disappointed he wasn't allowed to be hit but is happy to be back practicing with the guys.

The Vikings are taking it slow with Peterson who was activated from the physically unable to perform list on Sunday.  He is recovering from major knee surgery and is ahead of schedule in his rehab.  The Vikings will likely sit Peterson for their preseason game against Buffalo on Friday night but Peterson could play against the Chargers in their 3rd preseason game on August 24.

The Vikings host the Buffalo Bills at 7pm Friday, pregame on AM 1390-the Fan at 5:00.
