The Vikings nearly gave away a game that appeared to be theirs with just seconds left when Blaine Gabbert threw a 39-yard touchdown pass to Cecil Shorts with :20 left.  Viking quarterback Christian Ponder completed a pair of passes setting up kicker Blair Walsh for a 55-yard field goal.  Walsh made the kick and made a 38-yard field goal in overtime that turned out to be the game-winner.  Jacksonville got the ball once in overtime with the new overtime rule but were unable to score.

Adrian Peterson ran the ball 17 times for 84 yards and 2 touchdowns and caught one pass for 3 yards.  Peterson wasn't expected to be that involved in the offense but he looked healthy.  Christian Ponder was 20-27 passing for 270 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions.  Percy Harvin led the Vikings with 6 catches for 84 yards and ran 5 times for 20 yards.

The Vikings outgained Jacksonville 389 yards to 355.  Minnesota is 1-0 and will play at Indianapolis at noon Sunday, pregame on WJON at 11am.
