With the first two selections in this year's NFL draft all but a certainty - the Vikings find themselves in the "catbird seat".  After Andrew Luck goes to the Colts, and Robert Griffin III goes to the Redskins - nobody really knows what is going to happen.

But one thing is for certain - the Vikings will get offers for that 3rd pick.

And they have to listen.

The Vikings have a lot of needs to fill, period.  With Adrian Peterson coming off of major reconstructive knee surgery, the Vikings defensive front seven is the team's only real strength.

The general consensus is that if the Vikings keep the pick, they will select Matt Kalil, and offensive tackle from USC.  There is no doubt that offensive line is a need for the Vikings, and finding the anchor for your offensive line for the next 10 year or so, is never a bad thing.

But you can get a good lineman with the #35 pick in the 2nd round.

With the third pick, I would love to see the Vikings take Morris Claiborne, the cornerback out of LSU.

Of course, if they trade down they may wind up with any combination of players.  Hopefully, the Vikings can find a good, fast, dangerous receiver in this draft, too.

Football season starts tonight, folks!
