Viking defensive end Everson Griffen missed practice Thursday after he was informed of the sudden death of his mother.  Coach Leslie Fraizer said Thursday that police arrived at the team's headquarters on Wednesday to inform Griffen of the news.  The details of Griffen's mother's death were not immediately known.  Sabrina Scott has been visiting her son in Eden Prairie when she suddenly died Wednesday.

It's unclear when Griffen will return to the team and if he'll play Sunday when the Vikings play at Washington at 3:25 Sunday afternoon, pregame on WJON at 2:00.  The Vikings are 2-point underdogs.

Players that missed practice for the Vikings Thursday include defensive tackle Kevin Williams, safety Mistral Raymond and Griffen.  The following players were limited in practice; receiver Percy Harvin, guard Charlie Johnson, linebacker Marvin Mitchell, running back Adrian Peterson, safety Andrew Sendejo, receiver Jerome Simpson, and cornerback Antoine Winfield.
