The Vikings are reportedly close to acquiring quarterback Donavan McNabb from the Washington Redskins for 1 or 2 6th round draft picks in 2012 and/or 2013.  McNabb would also need to restructure his contract and take less money to complete the deal.  McNabb will turn 35 years old in November.  He played just 1 season in Washington and was benched near the end of the season for Rex Grossman.  McNabb threw for 3,377 yards with 14 touchdowns and 15 interceptions with Washington.  He had a quarterback rating of 77.1.

The Vikings drafted quarterback Christian Ponder with the 12th overall pick in the April NFL draft.  Ponder was at the Viking facility Tuesday but still needs to sign his first contract.  The Vikings report to training camp at Minnesota State-Mankato Sunday with the first practice scheduled for 3pm Monday.
