Viking receiver Greg Childs had surgery done on his torn patella tendons on both knees Monday.  He torn the patella tendon in both knees at a scrimmage for the Vikings in Mankato Saturday night.  Childs vows to recover from this injury but only one other player had the torn the patella tendon on both knees and he wasn't able to sustain a comeback in the NFL.

Childs was placed on waivers by the Vikings with the expectation that he will clear waivers and be placed on injured reserve.  Childs was a 4th round pick by the Vikings in the April NFL draft.

The Vikings will continue with practice today in Mankato from 10-12:30 and again from 2-6pm.  The Vikings first preseason game is at San Francisco on Friday night at 8pm (CT).
