Richard “Dick” Trickle died Thursday at the age of 71. His body was discovered next to his pickup truck at a cemetery in Lincoln County, North Carolina, after the longtime NASCAR and short-track driver shot himself, according to police.

Trickle was retired from competitive racing and had been living in Lincoln County for some time. Around noon, the Lincoln County Communications Center received a phone call, saying that there would be a dead body at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Boger City. Soon after, authorities found his body.

Over the course of a career that began at age 17 in 1958, Trickle was a two-time American Speed Association champion (1984, 1985), he won seven ARTGO championships, and he took the 1968 USAC Stock Car Rookie of the Year and the 1989 NASCAR Winston Cup Series Rookie of the Year.

Trickle became quite famous for his name, becoming a repeated punch line on shows like ESPN’s ‘SportsCenter.’ And though he never had much success on the NASCAR circuit, that didn’t hurt his sense of humor. In 1997, he filmed a commercial for NAPA Auto Parts in which he predicted the winner of an upcoming race: “It’s gonna be me!” A graphic then flashed across the screen that read “Dick is 0 for 243 in Cup races.”

Trickle then smiled and said, “I think we get champagne!”

Terrell Owens is going from catching footballs to rolling bowling balls.

Now that he appears to be out of the NFL, the former star wide receiver is trying his hand at professional bowling.

And they say you take up golf when you retire.

Owens recently took part in the United States Bowling Congress Open Championships and more than held his own, notching scores of 185, 129 and 161. In this video, T.O. gets a spare as the snarky announcers do their best Statler and Waldorf.

Owens, 39, is actually a huge fan of bowling and has participated in several charity tournaments over the past few years. He’s such a fan, in fact, that he’s a celebrity owner of the Dallas Strikers, a team in a new PBA league. We don’t quite know what “celebrity owner” means exactly, so we’ll just assume it’s a title to help increase awareness that there’s a PBA league with teams.

After his day at the lanes concluded, Owens gave himself a report card:

“It’s all about repetition. You’re only going to get out of it what you put in. I’m starting to get in a rhythm and starting to bowl a little more, so it’ll come in time. I just tried to focus on some of the things I’ve been taught and dialed in on that.”

Of course, this is T.O. we’re talking about, so don’t be surprised when he alienates entire alleys by claiming their concession stands are bad and he winds up doing sit-ups in the parking lot without a shirt after he gets into a dispute when he’s given the wrong size shoe.

There was a debate a couple of days ago about whether or not The Mighty Ducks was the greatest hockey movie of all time. While The Mighty Ducks only received a 12% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.com, it received a 67% rating from the general public. Does Coach Bombay’s plucky bunch of Pee Wees have enough to make it to the top spot on my top ten list? Read on to find out.

As usual, this list is not negotiable….

10 The Love Guru (14% critics/38% public)- Let’s be honest, this movie is terrible. You should know, my other choice for the #10 spot was the “on cable every day during my adolescence” immortal movie “The Cutting Edge.” No one wants that.

Justin Timberlake is actually very funny as Jacques Grande, the Los Angeles Kings’ fictional goaltender famous for his large equipment. However, Mike Myers as a Middle Eastern motivational guru sent to help the Kings star player (played by Romany Malco) get over some personal issues?

Point: This movie DID have Jessica Alba.
Counterpoint: Mini-me is supposed to be the head coach of the Los Angeles Kings. Mini me.

9 Sudden Death (52%/39%) – You remember this one, it’s the one where there is a bomb in Civic Arena in Pittsburgh and only Jean Claude Van Damme can stop it? No? You don’t? Well allow me to fill you in.

See, JCVD let a little girl burn to death while working as a firefighter and has not yet mentally recovered from the trauma. Rather than retire from firefighting like any rational person might, he becomes the fire marshal for… the local hockey arena. As part of his new duties, he works a Stanley Cup Finals game (with his kids, of course).

There are terrorists, and shootings and bombs and what-not but the part that put this movie over the top was the fact that Van Damme SUITED UP AS THE GOALIE AND MADE A SAVE during the third period of the game. This really happened in a modern motion picture:

8 D3: Even Mightier Ducks ft. Scrooge McDuck (20%/50%). The little-remembered and even less revered third installment features the Ducks attending a private high school. Somehow, all of the Ducks were accepted to the school and all made the team. This an example of the Saved By The Bell corollary, which dictates all major characters in a given show or movie must all sign up for the same classes and have the same schedule every day. When I was in high school I was stoked if ONE of my friends made it into a class of mine.

Also, inexplicably, the makers of D3 killed off beloved hockey shop owner Hans! Tell me you didn’t cry during this scene:

7 Mystery, Alaska (38%/64%) This movie has perhaps the most impossible premise of any movie on this list. As a reminder, this list includes little person Verne Troyer playing a National Hockey League coach.

The premise focuses on a small Alaska town that only has a Saturday hockey scrimmage (SCRIMMAGE) to look forward to every week. Russel Crowe plays the elder statesman of these games and his character, John Biebe, is being pressured to retire (again, from a scrimmage) to make room for a new generation of (scrimmaging) players.

The plot thickens when the New York Rangers accept an invitation to fly their entire team to Alaska to SCRIMMAGE against the ragtag Mystery squad. That’s right: The Rangers are willing to risk their season, millions of dollars in salaries, and humiliation in the case of defeat for……what exactly?

The plot was so preposterous that the actual New York Rangers refused to make cameos in the movie.

6 D2: The Mighty Ducks….2 (15%/55%). This movie was a major disappointment to adolescent Dave. I loved the first Ducks movie and had high hopes for part two. In this movie, Iceland is/are the bad guys, and Gordon Bombay acts like a jerk as the coach of Team USA after failing in a stint in minor league hockey.

This time Gordon Bombay is ostracized by his young team for dating a member of the team Iceland coaching staff. As you recall from your history books, Bombay was chastised for formerly being a member of the Hawks in part one.

Two things bother me about this movie: One, coach Bombay completely forgot how to coach this group of kids in the span of one offseason? All the lessons he learned in the first installment literally just went out the window. Two, the kids also forgot the lessons THEY learned in part one and are again willing to jump to conclusions and bash Bombay?

The only awesome part of the movie is the creation of the Bash Brothers, sort of a bantam version of the Hanson brothers.

5 Youngblood (33%/65%) Two words: Rob Lowe. The 80′s heartthrob plays the lead role as Dean Youngblood, a young hockey player making his way through junior hockey. Youngblood can skate and he can score but he is as soft as a pile of kittens.

With the help of his goaltender, played by Keanu Reeves, and the love of his life (who also happens to be the coaches’ daughter), Youngblood learns the meaning of “tough” when he fights the singularly named “Racki” of the rival Thunder Bay squad in the film’s climactic scene. Spoiler Alert: Youngblood wins….and gets the girl. Ladies and gentlemen, the 80′s!

4 Miracle (80%/87%) Admit it, when Kurt Russell was given the role as Herb Brooks, you had doubts. We are talking about the same guy who played Snake in the “Escape From….” movies and Captain Ron in, you guessed it, “Captain Ron.”

However, Russell was excellent in his role as the legendary former St. Cloud State coach and his pregame speech before the pivotal game against the evil Russians in the US Olympics has been imitated time and again since the movie was released:

Obviously, as with any Disney movie , there were some embellishments. But the fact remains there are many goosebump-inducing scenes throughout the film, and Russell’s speech tops them all.

3 Goon (82%/72%) This is the newest movie on the list, and I think as time goes on and I watch “Goon” more and more, this will eventually surpass “The Mighty Ducks” for the #2 spot on the list. The premise is simple: Doug Glatt is a bouncer who is a perpetual disappointment to his family. Doug has a buddy, Pat, who runs a local cable access show that focuses on the “goons” of the local hockey league. One night while attending a minor league hockey game, a player comes into the stands to fight Pat when he is quickly dispatched by Doug with a vicious head-butt.

A coach sees this from the bench and invites Doug to try out for his team the next day. Having never played hockey or ice skated before, he gets taunted by his own teammates during the tryout so he does what any rational goon would do: He pummels them.

From there, Doug rises through the ranks of minor league hockey as a premiere fighter. His final challenge is to fight the aging Ross “the Boss” Rhea.

The movie is comically violent and there is foul language aplenty….kind of like the sport of hockey itself.

2 Mighty Ducks (12%/64%)- Yes, it’s a kids movie. Yes, it’s a Disney movie. Yes, the plot has more holes than a bulletin board BUT this is the second best hockey movie ever made. Adam Banks forced to transfer to the Ducks and being labeled a Cake Eater. The mystical hockey owner Hans inexplicably opening a hockey shop located in the middle of the woods. A drunk former lawyer being trusted with a group of impressionable children. Coach Bombay naming a line featuring two African American forwards and a Caucasian the “Oreo” line (Really coach….REALLY???).

The coach of the rival Hawks (which might as well have just been named “Edina”) with a penchant for popping his collar is played by legendary “that guy” Lane Smith, who is perhaps most famous for being the Pauly Shore-hating dad in “Son In Law.”

The film’s climax features the most unrealistic play in hockey history, the “flying v formation,” followed by the least realistic penalty shot in history, the “triple deke.”

1 Slap Shot (87%/87%)- Let’s be clear about one thing–there will never be another hockey movie that comes close to the perfection that is Slap Shot. From established star Paul Newman’s Reg Dunlop character, to the secondary teammates like French-Canadian goalie Denis Lemieux, all the way to the legendary Hanson brothers this movie is full of unique and hilarious characters.

Dunlop plays the aging player/coach of the Charlestown Chiefs. The Chiefs are struggling with attendance and Dunlop happens to overhear the owner on the phone saying he is disbanding the team, which would leave the players unemployed. Dunlop creates a rumor that the team has been sold to an investor in Florida, which inspires the team to perform better in order to impress the new ownership.

At times, the movie is a bit sappy for my taste but the skilled acting of Newman helps to get through the dramatic scenes and back into the hockey action. The movie really picks up steam when the mysterious and goofy Hanson brothers arrive in town with a Coke-bottle glasses and long stringy hair. When the Hansons finally earn some ice time all heck breaks loose and the Charlestown Chiefs really hit their stride.

It’s also not the only time in history that it’s happened.

While the Harbaughs are the first coaches to face off against one another at this level, some brothers have had to overcome personal feelings in the name of the title when they were matched up on the court, field, or ice. Setting aside the Williams sisters who are always good for some sisterly love, here’s a look back at the best brotherly battles:

The Meusel brothers

Of the two baseball playing Meusels, it was Bob who had the prominence. But his brother Emil, known as “Irish,” could hit, too. Irish played for the New York Giants, posting his best numbers in 1922 as the Giants stormed their way to the crown. It was the second consecutive year that the Giants had bested Bob’s Yankees for the title. But in 1923, Bob got his revenge as the Yankees took down the Giants in the World Series.

The McEnroe brothers

John certainly knew how to work up a crowd and remains a household name today, but his tennis-playing brother Patrick has become a forgotten man over time. The two tennis players squared off in 1991 at the Chicago Open. It was Patrick’s first ATP Tour final — he lost to brother John in three sets. Patrick rode that second place finish to the semifinals of the 1991 Australian Open, but he never could best his brother on the biggest stage.

The Sanchez brothers

Neither of the Sanchez boys are as famous as their sister Arantxa who lit up the women’s tour in the 1980s. But Emilio rose to some fame himself as he won three Grand Slam doubles titles and the men’s doubles silver medal at the 1988 Olympic Games. In 1987, Emilio met his brother Javier in the final at Madrid, with Emilio walking away the victor in three sets.

The Niedermayer brothers

In 2003, Scott Niedermayer helped lead the Devils to their third Stanley Cup championship in eight years, solidifying a mini-dynasty. However, this title was a bit bittersweet. On the other side of the ice were the Mighty Ducks, including Scott’s younger brother, Rob. “I really didn’t know what to say,” Scott said after the last game. “I wish he could’ve been with us, carrying the trophy around. I just told him I was proud of him.”

The Reardon brothers

Before the Niedermayers, you have to go all the way back to 1946 to find another example of brother vs. brother for the NHL championship. The last brothers to play each other for the Cup were Boston’s Terry Reardon and Montreal’s Ken Reardon. Ken was a defenseman the team leaned on for their crown, but he retired soon afterward due to injuries. He’d go on to become a popular NHL executive for the Montreal Canadiens, and is a member of the Hall of Fame.

Terry also got to taste of winning during his career — Boston engraved his name on the 1939 Stanley Cup despite the fact that he only played four games for them that season. Aw, a brotherly happy ending: at least they could share their triumphs and both be winners.

Doritos has just announced the five finalists, each of which will be aired during the Super Bowl. Voting on Facebook will determine the overall winner. On Thanksgiving 1976, the league's first 2,000-yard rusher gave the Detroit Lions a firsthand glimpse of his scary skill set. O.J. needed just 29 carries to rack up a then-NFL record 273 yards, amassing a ridiculous 9.4 per carry average in the process. Unfortunately, Simpson's record-setting performance was negated by an equally pathetic showing from Bills quarterback Gary Marangi, who completed just 4 of his 21 passes in Buffalo's 27-14 loss. We don't even want to think about the death stares O.J. was sending Marangi's way.

Luckily for us, the massive defender chose Dallas' 1993 Thanksgiving match-up with the Miami Dolphins to commit his most memorable error in judgement. The Cowboys clung to a 14-13 lead with just 15 seconds remaining, forcing the Dolphins to attempt a desperation field goal. One of Dallas's big bruisers managed to block the kick, setting off a team-wide celebration---for everyone except ol' Leon. Lett clumsily kicked the ball right back into Miami's hands, leading to a game-winning field goal and a furious Cowboys fan base.

The real drama came at the end of regulation, when the team's respective captains lined up for the coin toss that would determine possession in overtime. Steelers legend Jerome Bettis called tails, which should have secured the ball for his squad. Instead, referee Phil Luckett insisted that Bettis had called heads, giving the Lions the football and, eventually, the victory. Luckett's gaffe is still regularly referenced as an example of inept officiating, and is undoubtedly one of the league's most famous Thanksgiving moments.

By the time the 41-9 trouncing was over, Manning had tossed a career-high six touchdowns (three of them to Marvin Harrison), Edgerrin James had tossed in 105 yards on the ground, and Lions quarterback Joey Harrington was spending yet another game in the fetal position.
With about two laps to go in the AdvoCare 500, NASCAR Driver Jeff Gordon crashed into fellow driver Clint Bowyer. The bump sent Bowyer into the wall and sparked one of the greatest NASCAR fights of all-time — in the pits!

After both cars were sent to pit row, Gordon appeared ready to call it a day until a member of Clint Bowyer’s pit crew got into an altercation with him which sparked a brawl between both sides.
The brawl was broken up within thirty seconds but Bowyer had yet to exit his vehicle and once he left his car, he went looking for Gordon and needed to be restrained by NASCAR officials before he fought with him in his trailer.

For those wondering what else might have sparked the brawl, it was probably a combination of incidents on the track during the race and the irritation from Bowyer’s crew after losing ground in the Chase for the Sprint Cup.

ST. CLOUD – Police say roads near a fire in east St. Cloud have re-opened to traffic. Sergeant Mike Koeniguer says they removed the barricades around 8:30 p.m.

St. Cloud Fire crews started battling the fire in east St. Cloud at about 6:05 p.m. this evening.

Flames and thick plumes of black smoke could be seen from what appears to be metal yard at Northern Metal Recycling at East St. Germain Street and Lincoln Avenue.

Eyewitnesses report charred flakes falling from the sky in that area and popping noises could be heard.

Sergeant Koeniguer says the police and fire officials are still working to determine the cause of the fire.

No injuries are being reported to either the fire crews or police officials on the scene.

Will they go down in history as heroes, or choke when it matters most? Many of the most rewarding moments in professional sports are borne from last-second heroics. These accomplishments also tend to lead to some pretty entertaining celebrations. Take a step into the time machine and relive these incredible game winners:

Hail Flutie

It’s impossible not to like Doug Flutie. The real-life Rudy first came into the national consciousness during a remarkable college career at Boston College, punctuated in 1984 by this outrageous Hail Mary. Flutie’s Eagles trailed the defending champion Miami Hurricanes, 45-41, with 28 seconds on the clock, forcing them to attempt a desperation heave into the end zone. The five-foot-nine quarterback rolled to his right, took a giant stride, and threw a spiral nearly 65 yards into a strong wind and the waiting hands of a BC receiver. The “Hail Flutie” earned Doug a Heisman Trophy and college football immortality.

Joe Carter Goes Deep

Toronto Blue Jays slugger Joe Carter was considered one of the great home run hitters of his era, but will undoubtedly be remembered for his walk-off blast in the 1993 World Series. The Jays trailed the Phillies and were one out away from a loss when he stepped up to the plate to face feared closer Mitch Williams. Carter rose to the occasion, sending a Williams offering over the leftfield wall to secure the Blue Jays’ second straight championship. It was the first time a home run had ended a World Series since Bill Mazeroski’s famous 1960 blast.

Montana CEments His Legacy

By the time he played in his third Super Bowl, Joe Montana had already established his reputation as a late-game hero. Still, this last minute drive against the Bengals in Super Bowl XXIII catapulted the Notre Dame alum to immortal status. Facing a 16-13 deficit with about three minutes remaining, the Niners had to cover 92 yards against a solid Cincinnati defense. Montana employed the same West Coast Offense techniques that had served him all season, systematically picking his opponent apart even though he was hyperventilating. John Taylor’s TD catch with 34 seconds on the clock ensured a 49ers victory and a Montana Hall of Fame induction.

“Trees Will Tap Dance”

Coach Jim Valvano is renowned for his emotional “Don’t give up, don’t ever give up” speech at the 1993 ESPYs, and his 1983 NC State squad embodied that sentiment. The Wolfpack were heavy underdogs against a Houston team that featured future NBA stars Clyde Drexler and Hakeem Olajuwon. The matchup was considered so lopsided that one analyst stated that “trees will tap dance” before NC State would win. Miraculously, the scrappy Valvano-led Wolfpack pulled off the upset when forward Lorenzo Charles dunked a last-second air ball. The image of Jimmy V wildly rushing the court is one of the most memorable moments the sports world has ever seen.

Chastain For The Win

File this incredible performance under “pure adrenaline.” The United States women’s national team had battled China to a scoreless draw during the 1999 World Cup Final. When the team lined up for penalty kicks, American Brandi Chastain, a defenseman, was one of the last people expected to produce a game-winning goal. With the fifth and final penalty kick, Chastain drilled the winner past China’s sprawling goalie and sparked a wild celebration. In a fit of “momentary insanity,” she ripped off her jersey and fell to her knees in sheer exhilaration. The “Sports Bra Incident” was featured on several magazine covers and has become an iconic moment in American sports history.

For those of you out there looking for the slam dunk of the summer, you need to look no further than this effort from Division II basketball player Angelo Sharpless.

Sharpless, who hails from Plymouth, North Carolina and majors in Physical Education at Elizabeth City State University, was playing in the Ben Wallace Pro-Am last week when he pulled off the amazing in-game dunk.

We’ve never seen anything like Angelo’s self-assisted alley-oop, one-handed power dunk. It might not just be the slam of the summer but possibly the year. Not only should the junior guard get drafted based on this video alone, he should be an early favorite to win next year’s Slam Dunk contest during NBA’s All-Star Weekend.

It’s no secret that Minnesota Twins backstop Joe Mauer is a hit with the ladies. Head and Shoulders would lead you to believe that it’s gotta be the hair.

In this spot that first debuted in mid-April and ran during the MLB All-Star Game, Joe settles under a pop up behind home plate but thanks to the ball’s hangtime, he fields some questions from a beautiful brunette. One YouTube user called her, ‘The girl version of [Khloe] Kardashian’. Hilarious, yes, but it doesn’t move us around the bases towards scoring her name. So, who is she?

Thanks to a much more helpful YT commenter, we know that the mystery Mauer fan is Tracy Weiler, a model and actress who graduated from Batesville High School in Indiana before obtaining her BFA in musical theater from Northern Kentucky University. And, she’s actually a blonde!

Her resume includes roles in the rom-com ‘Fugly’ with John Leguizamo, MTV’s ’I Just Want My Pants Back’, skits on the ‘Late Show with David Letterman,’ ‘Celebrity Apprentice,’ ‘The Apprentice,’ and commercials for Klondike bars, Weight Watchers and Comcast Cable. She’s one premium package we’d love to subscribe to. Hey, at least that joke’s better than the last place Twins. Full-bodied hair might produce Os but not Ws.

Rafael Nadal broke a tennis record on Monday when he netted his seventh French Open title, further putting him in the upper echelons of the sport’s history.

He now has 11 Grand Slam titles for his career. For this most recent championship, Nadal needed four sets to beat Novak Djokovic, another young tennis star who had won three straight Grand Slam titles entering the French Open. The two players’ success in recent years has some comparing them against the greats of the past. How do they stack up? Here’s a look at 10 other tennis champs who dominated in their eras:

ROGER FEDERER

He was the top player for a record 237 consecutive weeks spanning five different years in the mid-2000s. And Federer is still playing at a high level, currently ranked third in the world. He holds the record for the most Grand Slam titles with 16 and has competed in another seven final Grand Slam matches. From 2003 to 2010, Federer never dropped below the game’s number two player.

PETE SAMPRAS

Sampras won 14 Grand Slam titles and was considered of the greatest player of his time before Federer came onto the scene. Between 1993 and 1998, Sampras led the way with Andre Agassi and everyone else hot on his trail. His most impressive achievement is arguably his seven Wimbledon championships, a record. Sampras sat at the game’s top-ranked position for a record 286 consecutive weeks, just ahead of Federer.

ANDRE AGASSI

Agassi wasn’t an aggressive and forceful player, like some of his compatriots. In fact, Agassi played a much more defensive game, returning pretty much everything he saw and lulling his opponents into frustrated play. He used his prominence as a tennis leader to garner advertisement opportunities, and he enjoyed his celebrity status that transcended the sport. On the court, Agassi was an eight-time Grand Slam winner, an Olympic gold medalist, and winner of the ATP Tour World Championships, what some have labeled a “Career Super Slam.” He’s the only man to hold that distinction.

IVAN LENDL

During the 1980s and into the ’90s, Lendl captured eight Grand Slam titles. He appeared in a Grand Slam final in 11 consecutive years, a feat matched only by Sampras. Lendl was the top-ranked player for the most part of seven-plus years, and he set a then record with 270 weeks at the top of the rankings. His game had the rare mix of both power and finesse that kept his opponents on their toes.

ROD LAVER

Laver’s 200 career wins are a record and he was the top-ranked player from 1964 to 1970. He’s the most recent man to win all four Grand Slam titles in two different calendar years. He could win on any surface. Laver could play well with others, too. He had six wins playing doubles and three in mixed doubles. For nearly a decade, everything that Laver touched seemed to go in.

BJORN BORG

Borg won 11 Grand Slam titles, including five consecutive Wimbledons, something only Federer has also done. All of his accomplishments are even more remarkable when you consider how short Borg’s career ran in the ’70s and early ’80s. He is the first player to win two Grand Slams without dropping a set, which only Nadal has done since. In 1979, Borg became the first player ever to earn $1 million inside of a year, which helped both Borg and the sport garner more attention and adoration.

JOHN MCENROE

One of the most memorable and controversial players to grace the sport, McEnroe won seven Grand Slam titles and nine Grand Slam men’s doubles titles during his career. In 1984, he posted the best single season win-loss record at 82-3. McEnroe played during a time filled with great competitors like Lendl, Borg, Jimmy Connors, and many others. But it was his battles with umpires and authority figures that make McEnroe such a household name. Today, he brings that kind of vigor to the announcing booth.

JIMMY CONNORS

Connors earned eight Grand Slam titles in the ’70s and posted a then record 160 consecutive weeks at number one in the world. He is the only athlete to win US Open singles championships on grass, clay, and hard courts, showing his durability and dominance. His 1,241 career wins are a record for all players. During his career, he was a mainstay in the late rounds of practically every championship.

BOBBY RIGGS

Riggs played his first professional tennis match on December 26, 1941, but he’s most famous for a match he played in 1973 against Billie Jean King in what’s been called ‘The Battle of the Sexes.’ He was 55 at the time, but he recognized the chance to put tennis on the map. King beat Riggs, 6–4, 6–3, 6–3 and accepted the $100,000 winner-take-all prize. During his earlier playing years, Riggs helped the US team win the Davis Cup in 1938. He took home the Wimbledon crown in 1939 and won the national professional singles championship in 1946, 1947, and 1949.

PANCHO GONZALES

Nobody can match Gonzalez for his dominance of eight years at number one in the 1950s and early 1960s. One particular match stands out, though. In 1969, Gonzales faced Charlie Pasarelli in the game’s longest match to that point that led to the invention of tie break scoring. The match went into a second day after an umpire called it for darkness. By the end, Gonzales held on to advance.

Bob Saget has had an interesting career. Originally a stand-up comic known for his very vulgar material, he is most famous for playing patriarch Danny Tanner on ‘Full House,’ a family-oriented sitcom. Since his time with Uncle Jesse, the Olsen Twins and the rest, Saget has settled into a comfortable life of being famous for being Bob Saget.

But, over the weekend, he showed off a much more active skill. The 56-year-old sang the national anthem before a Chicago White Soxs game. So how did he do?

Not bad at all. And he resisted the urge to desecrate our national song with any blue lyrics. (Or gestures, like fellow ‘’90s TV star Rosanne Barr once did.)

Given how poorly celebs generally do when they are asked to throw out the first pitch at baseball games, maybe more should follow Saget’s lead and do the anthem instead.

When you run on the field during a baseball game, you should expect rough treatment from the security guards or the players, if they happen to get to you first.

<figure id="attachment_117651"class="aligncenter" >
David Banks, Getty Images

When you run on the field during a baseball game, you should expect rough treatment from the security guards or the players, if they happen to get to you first.

However, Chicago White Sox left fielder Dayan Viciedo couldn’t have been more gentle when he apprehended a field invader during the sixth inning of his team’s game against the Baltimore Orioles earlier this week.

That’s probably because the runner is said to be four-years-old, and Viciedo was able to effortlessly swoop him up and carry him over to security.

“My first reaction was just to grab him,” Viciedo said via an interpreter. “What I was thinking was that I hoped a ball doesn’t hit him, so that is why I instinctively went to grab him.”

The boy and two adults were ejected from the game. Speculation is that the youngster was told by his dad to run onto the field.

Baseball fans may remember an incident at Chicago’s Cellular Field in 2002 when a shirtless and heavily inebriated father and son duo jumped out of the stands and attacked Kansas City Royals’ coach Tom Gamboa.

While that incident was downright scary, this father and son misadventure on Chicago’s South Side ended up being pretty adorable, with a big assist from Viciedo.

Gotye did more than just sing during his stint as musical guest on ‘Saturday Night Live‘ this weekend. The Belgian-Australian multi-instrumentalist also got in a little acting through a digital short with Andy Samberg and Taran Killam.

Both ‘SNL’ stars were obsessed with one of Gotye’s best known songs ‘Somebody That I Used to Know.’ In the music video, Gotye starts off naked and is then painted into the background.

Thanks to Samberg and Killam, we’ll never be able to look at that video the same way again. Things get creepy when the duo sneak into Gotye’s dressing room and recreate the video, nudity and all.

“We’re like you,” says Samberg. “Get it?”

Gotye may have got it, but he didn’t much care for having two naked ‘SNL’ cast members hovering around him. You can watch the original video below. We say if you make a video like that, you’re just asking for nude parodies to be thrown back in your face.

When one thinks of Bobby Knight, the mind conjures up images of red-faced rage and chairs skidding across a field house floor. But age has mellowed the 71-year old, and Knight now prefers a good nap to the angry histrionics of his past.

It would seem, after watching this video of ESPN’s live College Game Day Final Four coverage, that when the camera cuts back to the panel the former coach is catching up on some long overdue napping. Knight (who doesn’t need no stinkin’ sports coat) appears to be asleep, only to be awaken when fellow old man Digger Phelps pokes him.

Now some have suggested that Knight was simply reading his notes with his head pointed down but look at how grumpy The General looks when Phelps jabs him. That’s what you call a just-woke-up face.

Then again, it’s Bobby Knight we’re talking about here, so it’s entirely possible he does look that way all day.
