The United States men's hockey team takes on rival Canada Friday morning in Sochi as part of the 2014 Olympic games. The winner of Friday's contest advances to the gold medal game against the winner of Sweden/Finland.

The United States blew out Slovakia 7-1 in their opening game, then beat host country Russia in a shootout 4-3 before topping Slovenia 5-1.

The USA beat the Czech Republic 5-2 in the quarterfinal round.

Canada beat Norway 3-1 to open their tournament before slamming Austria 6-0. The Canadians wrapped up the preliminary round with a 2-1 win in overtime over Finland.

Canada advanced to the semifinal with a 2-1 win over Latvia.
