ST. CLOUD - Minnesota Twins World Series hero Gene Larkin threw out the first pitch during the St. Cloud Rox home opener on Friday night.

Larkin is best known for hitting the series-winning single for the Twins against the Atlanta Braves in the 1991 World Series.

Larkin currently lives in Eden Prairie and runs a baseball camp in the area. He says that he was able to practice and was well prepared to throw out the first pitch.

"I'm not nervous, I'll throw a strike - I've thrown a few first pitches in my day," Larkin said with a smile before the game.

Larkin spent some time before the game meeting with players and manager Augie Rodriguez. Larkin says that he was looking forward to watching the Rox play.

"It just seems like yesterday that I was a college player trying to impress someone in the stands," Larkin says.
