Twins Win First Game 6-5 Over Angels
The Twins won 6-5 over the L.A. Angels to earn their first win of the season Wednesday night. Chris Parmelee had a 2-run triple in the 7th inning to tie the game at 5 before Jamey Carroll's 2-out RBI single off before Twin, Latroy Hawkins in the 7th inning. Carroll has his first 2 hits as a Twin. Josh Willingham added a 2-run homerun and Joe Mauer added a RBI single. Jeff Gray recorded just one out but earned the win in relief and Matt Capps threw a scoreless 9th inning to grab the save. Carl Pavano threw 6 2/3 innings with 5 earned runs allowed but didn't figure in the final decision.
The Twins are 1-4 and will host the L.A. Angels at Target Field again today at 12:10, pregame on WJON at 11:40. Lefthander Francisco Liriano (1-4) gets the start on the mound for th Twins and righthander Dan Haren (0-1) toes the rubber for the Angels.
