The Twins traded third baseman Danny Valencia to the Boston Red Sox for minor league outfielder Jeremias Pineda.  Valencia was hitting just .198 with 2 homeruns and 17 RBIs for the Twins this season.  He was assigned to triple-A Pawtuckett for the Red Sox.

The Twins get 21-year old minor league outfielder Jeremias Pineda who was hitting .421 with 14 stolen bases in 36 games in the Class A Gulf Coast League this season.

The Twins called up Tsuyoshi Nishioka from triple-A Rochester to take Valencia's spot on the active roster.  Jamey Carroll is expected to see time at 3rd base with Nishioka acting as a utility infielder.
