DETROIT - The Minnesota Twins picked up a crucial 2-0 win over the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park on Friday night.

Kyle Gibson had a tremendous start for Minnesota, throwing seven shutout innings and allowing just five hits.

Eduardo Escobar hit a solo home run in the third inning and drew a bases loaded walk in the ninth to provide the Twins two runs.

The Twins are now 32-33 this season and are just three games behind Detroit for first place in the American League Central. Both teams will go at it again at 3:05 p.m. on Saturday (2:35 pregame on AM1240 WJON).
