Twins Rout Giants 9-2 For 8th Straight Win
The Twins defeated San Francisco 9-2 Tuesday night to begin a 3-game series. Minnesota started the game with 8 straight hits and scored 8 first inning runs. Ben Revere and Luke Hughes were each 2-5 with 2 RBIs and 1 run scored and Joe Mauer was 2-5 with a run scored and 1 RBI.
Carl Pavano threw 8 innings with 9 hits and 2 earned runs allowed to get the win and improve to 5-5. The win for the Twins is their 8th straight and they improve to 32-39. The Twins are 6 1/2 games back of Cleveland for first place in the American League Central.
Both Cleveland and Detroit lost Tuesday night. The Twins play at San Francisco again tonight at 9:15, pregame on WJON at 8:45. Righthander Nick Blackburn (6-4) gets the start on the mound for the Twins and righthander Ryan Vogelsong (4-1) toes the rubber for the Giants.
