The Minnesota Twins rallied in the bottom of the ninth inning to send the game to extra innings, but evenually fell to the Oakland Athletics 7-4 Wednesday. A’s catcher Derek Norris hit a tie-breaking three run home run in the eleventh inning off of Jared Burton.

Jason Kubel continued his hot start at the plate for Minnesota by going 4-5 with two runs scored and one RBI, while Joe Mauer, Trevor Plouffe and Eduardo Escobar each had a pair of hits in the loss.

Twins starter Phil Hughes gave up four runs in the top of the first inning and ended up lasting five innings while allowing four runs on five hits with three walks.

Minnesota falls to 3-5 with the loss and will finish their series with the A’s Thursday at noon (WJON).
