MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Twins got good pitching performances and scored two runs late to beat the Tampa Bay Rays 3-2 on Friday night.

Twins starter Phil Hughes had his best outing of the season, allowing only two runs on five hits over seven innings.

Offensively, the Twins were led by Brian Dozier, who got Minnesota on the scoreboard with his 5th home run of the year -- a solo shot in the 3rd inning -- and later hit a sacrifice fly to give the Twins a 3-2 lead.

Relievers Blaine Boyer and Glen Perkins held the Rays scoreless over the final two innings -- sealing the victory for the Twins, who improved to 20-15 on the season.

The Twins and the Rays play again Saturday afternoon, with Trevor May taking the mound for Minnesota with a 1:10 p.m. scheduled start.
