Twins’ Mauer Plays Catcher; Kubel And Thome On DL

Twins catcher Joe Mauer played 3 innings of catcher at extended spring training in Fort Myers, Florida Thursday.  He was 0-5 at the plate but said after the game he felt good.  No announced timetable for Mauer's return.  The Twins placed outfielder Jason Kubel and designated hitter Jim Thome on the 15-day disabled list.  Kubel is out with a strained left foot and Thome is out with a strained quad.  The Twins also optioned shortstop Trevor Plouffe to triple-A Rochester.  Minnesota called up outfielders Ben Revere and Brian Dinkleman and infielder Luke Hughes to take their spots on the active roster.  Revere was in the starting lineup in right field Thursday night.
