Twins Get Swept In Arizona
The Twins lost 3-2 in Arizona Sunday afternoon to get swept in the 3-game series. Delmon Young had 2 hits including a solo homerun and scored both Twins' runs. His homerun tied the game at 2 in the 7th inning. Arizona got a leadoff triple from Willie Bloomquist in the bottom of the 7th and a sacrifice fly from Ryan Roberts drove him in. Francisco Liriano threw 6 innings with 6 hits and 2 earned runs allowed but didn't but in the final decision. Alex Burnett took the loss in relief. Minnesota falls to 15-30 and is now 14 1/2 games back of Cleveland for first place in the American League Central. The Twins placed Glen Perkins on the 15-day disabled list with an oblique injury and called up Dusty Hughes from triple-A to take his spot in the bullpen. Minnesota begins a 3-game series with Seattle at 7:10 Monday night, pregame on WJON at 6:40. Righthander Carl Pavano (2-4) gets the start on the mound for the Twins and lefthander Jason Vargas (3-2) toes the rubber for the Mariners.
