Twins End Skid With Win Over Kansas City
The Twins ended their 6-game losing streak with a 7-4 win over Kansas City at Target Field Sunday. Minnesota scored 4 runs in the first inning and added 2 runs in the 3rd inning. Josh Willingham was a homerun short of hitting for the cycle. He was 3-5 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs, Danny Valencia was 3-4 with a run scored and 2 RBIs and Ryan Doumit was 1-3 with 2 RBIs for the Twins. Jason Marquis threw 6 innings with 6 hits and 3 earned runs allowed to get the win and improve to 2-0. Bruce Chen allowed 6 earned runs in 2 2/3 innings took the loss for the Royals.
The Twins are 6-15 and will begin a 6-game road trip and 3-game series in Anaheim against the Los Angeles Angels at 9:05 tonight, pregame on WJON at 8:35. Righthander Nick Blackburn (0-2) gets the start on the mound for the Twins and lefthander C.J. Wilson (2-2) toes the rubber for the Angels.
