MINNEAPOLIS -- After a home run-filled opening game of the series against the Seattle Mariners, the Minnesota Twins' bats were silenced in a 6-1 loss on Friday.

The Mariners got a masterful performance by one of the top young guns in the league, pitcher Taijuan Walker.

The 22-year-old Walker struck out 11 and only allowed one hit -- a solo home run by rookie Miguel Sano -- in a complete game gem.

Twins starter Tommy Milone was not as sharp. The Mariners notched 11 hits in six innings against the lefty, building a lead they would not surrender.

With the loss, the Twins fall to 53-49 on the season, eight games back in the A.L. Central and one game ahead for the second Wild Card spot.

Kyle Gibson (8-8) will take the mound tonight for the Twins against the Mariners and Mike Montgomery (4-4) at 6:10 p.m.
