Torii Hunter Retires

Twins right fielder Torii Hunter has announced his retirement.  Hunter thanks the Twins and Twins fans for the memories after 19 years in the Major Leagues.  He played his first full seasons with the Twins before signing a free agent deal with the Los Angeles Angels in 2008.  He played 5 seasons with the Angels before leaving for the Detroit Tigers in 2013.  He played 2 seasons in Detroit before closing out his career in 2015 with the Twins.

The Twins drafted Hunter in 1993 and he made his Major League debut in 1997.  Hunter batted .277 with 353 homeruns and 1,391 RBIs in his career.  His best may have been 2007 when he hit .287 with 28 homeruns and 107 RBIs with the Twins.  He won 9 Gold Gloves and made 5 All Star appearances in his career.  Hunter batted .240 with 22 homeruns and 81 RBIs as a 40-year old in 2015.
