The Timberwolves have waived center Darko Milicic using the NBA Amnesty Clause.  Milicic underachieved during his time with the Timberwolves and averaged 7.7 points and 4.8 rebounds a game in 2011-2012.  His $7 Million salary figure does not count against the Wolves salary with this new clause.  Milicic now goes through the waiver process where he could be claimed by any team.

The Wolves needed to clear salary cap space to sign small forward Nicolas Batum to a $4 Million offer sheet.  Portland has 3 days to match the offer or work out a sign and trade deal with the Wolves.
