The Minnesota Timberwolves selected Providence guard Kris Dunn with the fifth pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, held Thursday night in New Jersey. The Wolves did not have a second-round pick in the draft.

Dunn is a 6'4" guard and is the only player in Providence history to register 1,000 points, 500 assists, 400 rebounds and 200 steals in a career. He averaged 16.4 points per game last season with the Friars.

The Philadelphia 76ers drafted Ben Simmons with the #1 overall pick, and Duke's Brandon Ingram was selected second by the Los Angeles Lakers.
