The 2015 NCAA Hockey West Regional is being held at Scheels Arena in Fargo, North Dakota. Capacity is just over 5,000 at the home of the USHL's Fargo Force, and with North Dakota holding the top seed in the region, to say tickets were in short supply would be an understatement.

A majority of the seats were purchased when they went on sale to the general public in October, before anyone knew who would be playing bracket. Each school was allotted approximately 400 tickets after qualifying, but demand far exceeded supply, meaning many fans were left without a spot in the barn.

Tom Nelson of SCSU Athletic Media Relations said that the school gave first priority to season ticket holders, then students and whatever was left over at that point went to a waiting list the team had put together in case some remained.

"I know the season ticket holders got a bunch of them and the students got some as well," Nelson said. "They were made available Monday to the season ticket holders and by the time I talked to Chad (Sheetz, Assistant Director of Business), the tickets were long gone."

Three ticket brokers began roaming around the parking lot at Scheels Arena early Friday morning. One broker said tickets were going for "a couple hundred bucks," but added there "weren't a lot of buyers or sellers around."

Both Michigan Tech and Quinnipiac were unable to sell their allotment of tickets completely and had them returned to Scheels Arena where they were made available exclusively for in-arena buyers on Thursday morning.

When word got out about the number of tickets returned late Wednesday afternoon (approximately 150), fans spread the word via social media and mobilized. Just 56 minutes  after the email fans began camping outside of Scheels vying for a spot in line. By one estimate 350 fans showed up for a shot at tickets, with over 200 turned away.

UND fans also used the camp-out method to lock up 300 ice-level standing room only seats behind each net.
