The Twins have activated third baseman Trevor Plouffe from the 15-day disabled list and optioned infielder Tsuyoshi Nishioka to triple-A Rochester. Plouffe was 0-8 in his rehab assigned at triple-A Rochester. Nishioka was 0-12 with 3 errors in his stint with the Twins last week. He played all 3 games against Cleveland but didn't play in the series against Tampa Bay over the weekend.

The Twins recalled infielder/outfielder Trevor Plouffe Sunday and he's expected to see regular at-bats the rest of the season. Plouffe played left field Monday night after Delmon Young was traded in the afternoon but Plouffe could play 2nd base and shortstop too. He was drafted as a shortstop and was playing there in the minor league until recently.

The Twins host the Chicago White Sox tonight after getting a day off Monday. Minnesota and Chicago begin a 3-game series at 7:10 tonight, pregame on WJON at 6:40. Righthander Carl Pavano (3-5) gets the start on the mound for the Twins and righthander Gavin Floyd (6-5) toes the rubber for the White Sox.
