St. John's Basketball

The St. John's basketball team lost to Augsburg 77-65 Monday night. The Johnnies trailed 38-22 at halftime but outscored the Auggies 43-39 in the 2nd half.

The St. John's basketball lost 86-59 Wednesday night to Bethel in Arden Hills. The Johnnies trailed 48-22 at halftime. Patrick Butcher led the Johnnies with 11 points and Chris Orgas added 10 points for St. John's.

The St. John's basketball team held off Minnesota-Morris to win 72-67 Thursday night in Collegeville. The Johnnies built an 8-point halftime lead and held on in the 2nd half. Seth Marx led the Johnnies with 16 points and Jack Wittenborg added 14 points for St. John's.

The St. John's basketball team lost 76-63 at Martin Luther College in New Ulm Monday night. Seth Marx led the Johnnies with 19 points and Kevin McKenzie added 11 points. St. John's was outrebounded 47-37.

The St. John's basketball team defeated Macalester 89-57 Wednesday night. Mitchell Kuck led the Johnnies with 21 points and Jack Wittenborg added 13 points for St. John's. The Johnnies shot 59 percent while Macalester shot 35 percent.

The St. John's basketball team lost 66-65 in Northfield to Carleton Monday night. Kuck Mitchell led the Johnnies with 21 points and Seth Marx added 10 points and 11 rebounds for St. John's.

The St. John's basketball team lost 75-59 to Hamline Wednesday night in their MIAC opener. Hamline led 37-29 at halftime.

The St. John's basketball team lost 82-52 at UW-Stevens Point Tuesday night. Alex Schmitt led the Johnnies with 16 points and Kuck Mitchell had 11 points. St. John's shot 35 percent from the field, committed 24 turnovers and were out-rebounded 39-28.

The St. John's and St. Cloud State basketball programs open the regular season by playing head to head Friday night in Collegeville at 7pm. St. John's is led by Seth Marx but is trying to replace their top 2 scorers from last season Aaron Barmore and Andy Burns. Marx is the top returning scorer averaging 8.9 points a game. St. Cloud State is led by point guard Shaun Jensen and center James Fort.

The St. John's basketball team won 47-45 in Minneapolis against Augsburg Wednesday night in the MIAC tournament quarterfinals. The Johnnies are seeded 5th while Augsburg is seeded 4th. Andy Burns made the buzzer beater to lift the Johnnies to the win. Burns finished with 14 points and Aaron Barmore had 10 points and 10 rebounds for St. John's.
