Former SCSU Baseball Player Gets Honor

Former St. Cloud State baseball player Jordan Smith has been named the minor league player of the week in the Cleveland Indiana organization for the 2nd time this season. He batted .571 with a homerun and 8 RBIs at single-A Lake County in the Indians organization. He is batting .322 with 5 homeruns and 44 RBIs at Lake County this season as an outfielder. He played 3rd base at St. Cloud State.

NCHC Announcement at Target Center Today

The new hockey conference that St. Cloud State is joining in 2013-2014 has a major announcement planned at Target Center today. The National Collegiate Hockey Conference has a new conference planned this afternoon at the Target Center lobby today to announce that the NCHC postseason tournament will be held at Target Center starting in 2014. The new NCHC will consist of the following schools; St. Cloud State, Colorado College, Denver, Miami of Ohio, Minnesota-Duluth, Nebraska-Omaha, North Dakota, and Western Michigan.

St. Cloud State will interview the 3 finalists for their open Athletic Director position today at SCSU's Halenbeck Hall. The 3 finalists are Miami of Ohio Associate Athletic Director Josh Fenton, Lewis University Athletic Director Dan Schumacher and Drake University Associate Athletic Director Heather Weems.

Longtime St. Cloud State men's and women's track and field and men's and women's cross country head coach Seth Mischke has resigned at SCSU. He is taking the head men's and women's track and field and assistant cross country coaching positions at Blacks Hills State in Spearfish, South Dakota.

WCHA Approves Northern Michigan

The WCHA unanimously approved addding Northern Michigan to the conference starting in 2013-2014. Northern Michigan joins St. Cloud State, Minnesota State-Mankato, Bemidji State, Michigan Tech and Alaska-Anchorage starting in 2013-2014.

SCSU’s Motzko Says WCHA Will Continue

A new Division I men's college hockey conference is being formed and will start play in the 2013-2014 season. The new conference called the National Collegiate Hockey Conference announced Wednesday that the league will consists of 6 schools: North Dakota, Minnesota-Duluth, Colorado College, Denver, Nebraska-Omaha and Miami-Ohio.
