The St. Cloud State football team is picked to finish 2nd in the NSIC preseason coaches poll. MN-Duluth is picked to win the conference title. St. Cloud State was 10-3 in 2010 and lost in the 2nd round of the NCAA Division II tournament to national champion, MN-Duluth.
SCSU Football Holds Spring Game, Selects Captains
The St. Cloud State football team held their spring game Saturday afternoon at Husky Stadium. Starting quarterback Phil Klaphake threw for 121 yards and 1 touchdown. The team also announced their team captains. They are Klaphake and offensive lineman Matt Theis on offense and the defensive captains are defensive back Tony Kubes and linebacker Thomas Gruis.
SCSU Football Looking To Replace Fred Williams
The St. Cloud State football team began spring practices Monday and only needs to replace 9 seniors from last year's team. The Huskies do need to replace their top playmaker from 2010, receiver Fred Williams. He leaves SCSU with single game records for passes caught (15), receiving yards (236-twice) and touchdown receptions (4-ties the record); single season records for passes caught (95), and receiving yards (1,616); and career records for passes caught (264), and receiving yards (3,804).

The St. Cloud State football team signed 26 players to NSIC and National letters in intent on college football national signing day Wednesday. SCSU signed 5 offensive lineman and 6 defensive lineman. Amongst the 5 offensive lineman is St. Cloud Apollo's Tom Terwey.

St. Cloud State senior receiver Fred Williams has been selected to the AFCA and Daktronics Division II All-American teams as a first teamer. Williams is a 3-time NSIC all conference selection. He holds single-season SCSU records for receptions in a season (95) and yards receiving in a season (1,616).
