Wayne State Upset SCSU Football

The St. Cloud State football team lost 48-38 in the first round of the NCAA Division II Super Region #3 Saturday afternoon at Husky Stadium in St. Cloud. Wayne State led 27-24 at halftime and increased its lead to 41-31 at the end of 3 quarters. Phil Klaphake threw for 284 yards and 3 touchdowns in the loss for SCSU. Klaphake ran for 87 yards to lead SCSU on the ground.

SCSU’s Underwood Is NSIC Coach Of The Year

St. Cloud State football coach Scott Underwood is the NSIC coach of the year for the first time in his career. That announcement came Tuesday when the NSIC announced its season ending awards. Underwood and the Huskies are 9-2 this season and have made back to back appearances in the NCAA tournament. Underwood is 33-13 in his career coaching at SCSU.

SCSU Football Gets #3 Seed

The St. Cloud State football team is the #3 seed in the Super Region NCAA Division II tournament. The pairings were announced Sunday. SCSU will play #6 Wayne State (Michigan) Saturday November 19 at SCSU's Husky Stadium. The Huskies are 9-2 while Wayne State is 8-3.

SCSU Tops MSU-Moorhead to Win a Share of NSIC Title

The 13th ranked St. Cloud State football team defeated Minnesota State-Moorhead 47-14 Saturday afternoon to win a share of the NSIC title. SCSU finishes the regular season 9-2 overall and 8-2 in the NSIC. Michael Walker ran for 73 yards and 3 touchdowns for SCSU and Andy Folz ran for 73 yards and 1 touchdown for the Huskies. Phil Klaphake threw for 157 yards and ran for 34 yards and 1 touchdown for St. Cloud State.

#11 SCSU Routs #6 UMD

The 11th ranked St. Cloud State football team defeated #6 Minnesota-Duluth 35-7 Saturday afternoon at Husky Stadium. SCSU extends their home winning streak to 14 games. The win gives the Huskies a 8-1 record and a head to head win against the defending division II national champions. Duluth beat SCSU in the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament last season.

The St. Cloud State football team is ranked #5 in the first NCAA Division II Super Region #3 rankings. Colorado State-Pueblo is ranked #1, Nebraska-Kearney is #2, Minnesota-Duluth is #3, Wayne State is #4, SCSU is #5, Hillsdale (MI) is #6, Indianapolis is #7, Saginaw Valley State is #8, Ashland is #9, and Bemidji State is #10.

SCSU Football Tops SW MN State

The St. Cloud State football won 24-17 at Southwest Minnesota State in Marshall Saturday night. Brad Meade played for the injured Phil Klaphake and was 12-23 passing for 200 yards and 2 touchdowns with 1 interception. Dante Steward ran for 101 yards on 20 carries and Michael Walker ran for 78 yards on 14 carries for SCSU. Both Renard Robinson and Seth Noreen had touchdown receptions for SCSU.

SCSU Beats Rival Minnesota State

The St. Cloud State football team beat Minnesota State-Mankato 31-13 Saturday afternoon to capture the traveling training kit. SCSU led 17-6 at halftime and scored 14 4th quarter points to put the game out of reach. Dante Steward ran for 141 yards and 2 touchdowns. Michael Walker ran for 82 yards and a touchdown for the Huskies. Brad Meade threw for 77 yards and a touchdown for SCSU.

SCSU Football Beats Northern State

The St. Cloud State football team defeated Northern State 27-14 Saturday evening at Husky Stadium. SCSU led 17-7 at halftime and increased their lead to 27-7 in the 3rd quarter. Phil Klaphake threw for 192 yards and 2 touchdowns and he ran for a score. Brandon Geiss led the Huskies with 115 yards rushing on 13 carries.
