The Twins lost Monday night at Boston but it was apparent that many of the players they ran out there were overmatched in the major leagues at this point in their career. The Twins managed 10 hits but all of them were singles and they had trouble getting the key 2-out hit to score runs.

Twins Catching Options Haven't Improved

The Twins arn't helping their production at the plate from the catching position after calling up Rene Rivera from Triple-A. He was hitting just .200 in 13 games and isn't considered a prospect. Steve Holm was sent down in favor of Rivera after hitting just .118 in 17 at-bats with the Twins.

Twins Callup Rivera; At Boston Tonight

The Twins have called up catcher Rene Rivera from triple-A Rochester to backup Drew Butera. The team sent down catcher Steve Holm after Wednesday's game. Holm was hitting .118. Rivera is 27 years old and was hitting .200 with 1 homerun and 6 RBIs at triple-A Rochester. He appeared in 53 major league games with Seattle from '04-'06.
