The Dallas Cowboys downed the New York Giants 24-17 Wednesday night in the NFL season opener. Tony Romo threw for 307 yards and 3 touchdowns to lead the Cowboys. Kevin Ogletree led the Cowboys with 8 catches for 114 yards and 2 touchdowns. Demarco Murray ran for 131 yards on 20 carries for Dallas.

The Giants beat the Cowboys to win the NFC East, while the Bengals and Broncos lost, but received help from other teams to slip into the last remaining AFC playoff spots. The playoffs are scheduled to begin next Saturday, when Cincinnati travels to Houston and New Orleans hosts Detroit. On Sunday, Atlanta travels to New York, while Denver hosts Pittsburgh. N.Y. Giants 37 – Dallas 34 Eli Manning led two touchdown drives in the final six minutes, and the New York Giants beat the Dallas Cowboys 37-34 on Sunday night. Dallas (7-6) had a chance to tie, but kicker Dan Bailey’s 47-yard field goal attempt with 1 second left in the game was blocked by Jason Pierre-Paul. New York (7-6) had to rally after falling behind 34-22 with 5:41 remaining in the game, when the Cowboys’ Dez Bryant scored on a 50-yard touchdown pass from Tony Romo.
