The Minnesota Wild lost 4-1 at the New York Islanders Wednesday night. Niklas Backstrom allowed 3 goals and was pulled from the game early in the 2nd period. He had 16 saves. Jose Theodore replaced him and had 21 saves and 1 goal allowed. John Madden scored the lone Minnesota goal. The Wild are 33-25-6 and with 72 points are in 11th place in the West, 2 points back of the last playoff spot.

Wild Lose At Home To Chicago
The Minnesota Wild lost 4-2 at home to the Chicago Blackhawks Monday night. Chicago went out to a 3-0 lead entering the 3rd period before Minnesota got goals from Martin Havlat and Brent Burns. Chicago added an insurance goal after the scored was 3-2. Niklas Backstrom had 30 saves for the Wild and Minnesota was outshot 34-26.
Wild Make Minor League Trade
The Minnesota Wild traded minor league goaltender Anton Khudobin to the Boston Bruins for prospects Jeff Penner and Mikko Lehtonen. Khudobin had won 5 of 6 professional starts but he's spent most of this season playing for the Houston Aeroes. The trade was made just before the NHL trade deadline yesterday afternoon.

Wild Down Edmonton 4-1
The Minnesota Wild defeated Edmonton 4-1 Tuesday night. Minnesota scored 3 3rd period goals and surge in front. Martin Havlat, Kyle Brodziak, Jared Spurgeon and Pierre-Marc Bouchard each scored a goal for the Wild. Bouchard added 2 assists and his goal in the 3rd period was a spin-a-rama. Spurgeon's goal was his first NHL goal.

I am not a native Minnesotan, but I am a sports fanatic, and have been here long enough to consider myself a fan of all our local teams. I moved here from a town (San Diego, CA) that has NEVER won a major sports championship of any kind - so one thing I can quickly recognize, is sports futility!
Wild Lose To Red Wings; Koivu Out 3 Weeks
The Minnesota Wild lost 2-1 in an overtime shootout Sunday afternoon against the Detroit Red Wings. Todd Bertuzzi scored the game-winning goal in the shootout. Martin Havlat scored the lone Wild goal and Niklas Backstrom had 38 saves. Minnesota was outshot 39-26. The Wild played without center Mikko Koivu Sunday because of a broken finger.
