Wild Sign Jonas Brodin

The Minnesota Wild signed first round draft pick Jonas Brodin to an entry-level contract Tuesday. Brodin is an 18-year old from Sweden that was selected with the 10th overall pick in last month's NHL draft. Brodin had 4 assists in 42 games playing for his Swedish Elite League team as a 17-year old last season. He scored 2 goals in 14 playoff games to help his team to the league championship.

The Minnesota Wild signed defenseman Mike Lundin to a 1-year contract Monday. The 26-year old is a 6'2 191 pound Burnsville, MN native. He scored 1 goal and had 11 assists with Tampa Bay in 69 games last season.

The Minnesota Wild signed left wing Colton Gillies to a 2-year contract Wednesday. Gillies played in just 7 games for the Wild in 2010-2011 with 1 goal and no assists. He is just 22 years old and was the first round pick of the Wild in 2007.

Wild Make Good Move To Acquire Heatley

The Minnesota Wild needed scoring and a go-to scorer and they may have got one by trading Martin Havlat for Dany Heatley. Heatley is a goal-scorer and Havlat is not. Havlat is best suited to setup teammates where Heatley is more of a Marion Gaborik type that is looking for score first. He had 64 points with 26 goals with San Jose in 2010-2011.

The NHL Draft will be held tonight and tomorrow at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. The Wild have the 10th overall pick in the first round in tonight's draft. Minnesota has 6 picks in the 7-round draft. The Wild don't have a 2nd rounder and have 1 pick in the remaining 6 rounds. Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher says this is a deep draft class.

The Wells Fargo Minnesota Wild road tour stops in St. Cloud today at the Hockey Arena in the MAC from 2:30-3:30 this afternoon. Current Wild players Cal Clutterbuck and Marco Scandella, former Wild player Wes Walz, television play-by-play man Dan Terhaar, Mascot Nordy and Kevin Falness of the Minnesota Wild radio network will be making appearances at the event.
