They picked lefthander Mason Melotakis of Northwestern State in Louisiana at #63 overall. Melotakis projects as a late inning reliever that can throw 96 MPH. The Twins picked righthander J.T. Chargois of Rice University with the #72 pick. Chargois is a first baseman and late inning pitcher at Rice. He projects as a late inning relief pitcher that throws 96 MPH.
June 5, 2012 The Twins picked speedy outfielder Byron Buxton with the 2nd overall pick in the baseball entry draft Monday night. Buxton was considered by many to be the best prospect in the draft. Houston chose first and picked shortstop Carlos Correa. Buxton is 6'2 190 pounds with great speed, solid bat and great arm. He's been clocked at 99 MPH when pitching.

Houston has the first pick and is expected to choose righthanded starting pitcher Mark Appel of Stanford. The Twins will likely choose between high school outfield prospect Byron Buxton from Georgia and starting pitching prospect Kyle Zimmer from the University of San Francisco.

Walters started the game but didn't hang around long enough to get the win. He allowed 8 hits and 4 earned runs in 4 1/3 innings.
